Summary:   Deeply technical Java Developer with Bachelors or  Masters in Computer Science to develop applications for Portfolio Trading.  Looking for mid level person to join existing team (5-7yrs experience).   Must have strong computer science fundamentals in design, data structures, algorithms, threading.    The technical envrionment is combination of Core Java and J2EE.  The J2ee consists mostly of session beans, rest is core Java.   JMS for messaging.   Weblogic Application server.  XML.  SOA.  Only firm requirement is strong server side core Java, strong computer science fundamentals and some experience with large scale systems.   Hiring Mgr has 8 yrs of experience and ivy league grad. 

Main Function
The Tactical Development Team for the Portfolio Analysis Platform is responsible for supporting the central services of the Portfolio Analysis Platform, with a focus on implementing new client-facing features and bug fixes. The Portfolio Analysis Platform services are built in pure Java running in WebLogic using a Service Oriented Architecture.
As member of the Tactical Dev you will improve the business logic of various services to the  Portfolio Analysis Platform to enhance the experience for clients. Candidates for this position must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. They should be motivated to take ownership of multiple concurrent projects across all phases of the software development life cycle. The candidate must have demonstrated experience in Java application development; including Object Oriented Design, Refactoring, Unit Testing, and Debugging large distributed applications. The candidate will be expected to work independently in a fast-paced environment. They must have strong communication skills and be comfortable interacting with both technical colleagues and business users.
Main Duties
Support and enhance client-facing aspects of the Portfolio Analysis Platform.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Masters degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
4+ years of Object Oriented programming with significant Java development
3+ years of Linux experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with XML, including XPath and schemas (XSD)
Knowledge of Java Message Service (JMS)
Efficient debugging skills for large distributed systems
Knowledge of financial instrument analytics
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills
