C++ Developers - Recent Grad w/ strong Computer Science Fundamentals

Prop Trading Firm/ NYC

Summary:  Prop Trading Firm in NYC which specializes in various forms of automated trading is looking to hire 3 additional developers with Strong C++, Deep Understanding of language and all around strong computer science fundamentals.   The team develops high speed, high througput, low latency trading systems which require exceptionally strong development skills.  Financial industry experience is NOT required.    Ideally, person will have recently completed computer science degree from top comp sci program, ideally at masters or phd level, but Bachelor's grads will be considered too.    There are two profiles the client prefers:

For the first type:

I prefer Electrical Engineering or Compurter Science Bs.C.s or Masters . Although math, aeronautics and physics grads all know how to code, it's not their top interest in life. Same goes for PhDs - they are mostly overqualified and will not be happy to do some of the tasks that we want them to do. (See exception below).
I want them to have 2 to 3 years of experience - I don't need 10 or 15 years of experience - again - these people will be overqualified. These 2 years of experience can be gained while at college - I see a big advantage in people that worked during school (beyond summer internships). There are few of these, but worth looking for. There is an exception here - from time to time there are BRILLIANT graduates with no official experience. These people code for fun, hack around, and have a vast knowledge of coding - way beyond the stuff that being thought at schools. If you see one of those - send him/her in.
I do not see any advantage for people coming from the financial industry at this point. We have very poor experience with Bloomberg graduates and alike. On the contrary - these guys are mostly overpriced. We are open for people with gaming experience or anything else....

For the second type of position:
Here is the exception for the PhDs -  We can use people that are coming from out of the industry with high math/physics etc degrees. However - here is what's mandatory for those people:
They have to know how to code and understand C++ perfectly. We don't want to invest time in training for coding C++ 2. They have to understand that the positions if for coding - not research. Over time (within a year or so) I do expect them to be able to contribute from their other experience. But as for now, they will be working as any other coder in the firm.
